I am having a ball operating 2 meter SSB. All these years, and I am still discovering new ways to have fun. I have been on 2 meters for nearly 40 years, but never liked it that much. I bought an Icom IC-215 in 72 0r 73. Not too long after that I was in a QSO with a friend and several other fellows joined in. When one joined in I came back to him and said “the handle here is Gary.” He came back to me saying “we are not “CBers here!” I never got over that, so I mainly stayed on the HF bands. Now I am on SSB it is quite fun. It is not just an up-graded CB place! I am using a vertically polarized antenna (almost all are using horizontally polarized antennas) so i will have to change that to really get out. I recommend that you try 2 meter SSB it is a blast. Well I got the new design up. Or I should say Mike (Mike Leach, my son-in-law and expert WEB Designer) got it up. We changed everything on the site, keeping what I liked and changing what I didn’t care for. The idea is to recruit 10 or so writers to consistently “BLOG” on the site about their interests, projects and news about amateur radio.
WANTED WRITERS….I would like to have writers with interests in:
Satellite communications
New products
New modes of communication
Digital communication
Working DX
Working QRP
Mobile and portable communication
FUN and special events
Antennas, new design and construction
Home brewing and repairing Amateur radios
VHF and UHF communication
AND I AM SURE I DID MISS SOMETHING, so you tell me what you would like to see, and or what you would like to write about.
Lets make this site the number 1 site for Amateur Radio information!
If you decide to write for the site, you would be asked to submit an article every 2 weeks. There will not be the usual hecklers to tell you you don’t know what you are talking about. Everything will be positive. And VERY INFORMATIVE. PLEASE E-MAIL ME ………k0imj@juno.com thanks a bunch for considering writing…….GaryKØIMJ
I love ham radio, I have 55+ years of continuous operation that proves that. The old days of ham radio was great, these new days are fantastic! And, I will be talking about both times in my blog part. I particularly do hope you enjoy this part of the site. I will also have some of my Heathkits up for sale.
